An Investigation of EFL Novice Teachers Causes of Teaching Anxiety and their Coping Strategies

Anxiety in language teaching and learning is not a new issue. However, there little information about the anxiety faced by English as foreign (EFL) novice teacher, especially Indonesian context. This study aims to find out causes of English, strategies overcome this anxiety, school support helping teachers manage their anxiety. qualitative used an online closed-ended questionnaires interviews for data collection. Sixteen EFL from seven junior high schools nine senior Medan, Indonesia participated study. The findings reveal three experienced teachers, namely: student participation class situation; material mastery; lack confidence. To some which include better preparation, establishing communication with students, doing warm up ice breaking, creating groups. In relation these findings, such provision teaching/learning resources facilities, discretion training could aid anxiety.
